The much-heralded “soft stretch” of the Royals schedule is not off to a great start. The Royals have lost series to the A’s and Rangers this week, and may get swept by the Rangers later today.
For the most part, the typical culprits are to blame—a stagnant offense and unreliable bullpen. The Royals offense is boasting a 55 wRC+ in the five games of those two series so far (27th in MLB) while the bullpen sports a 7.63 ERA (30th in MLB).
