Remember the days of Christian Colon? Brandon Finnegan? Foster Griffin? Low upside players whose promise of a solid floor never really materialized because a quad-A player doesn’t really do anything for a major league team.

Watching Brian Bridges shoot for high upside talent is enough to make Royals fans with long memories weep tears of joy.

And that’s the 30,000 foot take away from the the 2025 MLB Draft for the Royals … upside. The Royals took player after player who offered something that gives them a chance to make it to Major League Baseball and thrive. Even the senior signs have more upside than one might expect from that group because Bridges doesn’t play for quad-A guys. He plays for difference makers.
