When Spring Training games start, something magical happens. The fog of a dreary off-season burns away and all of sudden, it’s summer again. Sure, it may still be cold outside with streets covered in slush from the most recent snow, but in my heart, it’s summer because the boys are playin’ some ball.

So far, we’ve seen and heard two Cactus League games. The Royals won both of them, which is about as meaningless as a schoolyard game of tic-tac-toe. But because MLB is making their product a little more accessible all the time, we have more data on players than ever, and we’ll be able to see more of this Spring Training than ever. It’s just a matter of time before Spring Training will be entirely viewable (I mean with your eyes) on television or streaming.

Until then, let’s be happy with what we’ve got.
