Jac Caglianone's Struggles Continue; Royals Right There With Him
The Royals finally snapped their six-game losing streak. Can this be the turn around point?
Five games under .500. Dead last in runs per game. The Royals enter their final game of this home stand with plenty of fans heading for the exits. But a 9-5 drubbing of the defending champion LA Dodgers Saturday showed the potential the 2025 Kansas City Royals have. In an effort that saw the heart of the Royals lineup go 12-21 with five doubles, one home run, and one walk, I could almost hear the collective voice of Royals fans screaming ‘Why can’t they do this all the time?!’.
The answer, of course, is consistency. They don’t have the formula for it right now. Could it change? Probably not in the short term. But in the long term, sure. That’s such an unsatisfying answer, but I’m not committed to satisfaction; I’m committed to the truth.
Could they still get hot and reel off a bunch of wins? Sure. They’ve seen some bad luck in the runners in scoring position department. If that flips, they might get hot for a week or two. They may even get hot enough to pass some of the teams that sit between them and a wild card spot. But consist offense probably isn’t in the cards this season.
