In a season full of military-grade disappointment from the Kansas City Royals in 2023, the acquisition and emergence of Cole Ragans offered fans a much-needed bright spot.
After the Royals sent their most valuable trade chip in Aroldis Chapman to Texas for him, and a brief stint in Omaha to re-learn a slider and sharpen his arsenal, Ragans caught the attention of everyone still watching Royals games, posting a 2.64 ERA, a 2.49 FIP, and a 3.28 xFIP in 12 starts with a 31.1% strikeout rate and a 9.4% walk rate.
Those are Cy Young numbers over a full season.
But can he produce those numbers over a full season? Can he complete his transition from interesting trade market find to Royals ace in 2024?
