Grand Opening of the New Royals Pitching Factory
Royals pitching development looks like it's moving in the right direction.
We discussed it during the spotlight segment of our Monday episode, but it requires expansion in the form of a written Substack post.
Royals pitching prospects have started the season liquid magma hot. They have one prospect in the top-10 of all AAA in ERA (Jonathan Bowlan), two prospects in the top-27 of all AA pitchers in ERA (Mason Barnett and Noah Cameron), four prospects in the top-25 of all A+ pitchers in ERA (Henry Williams, Ben Kudrna, Hunter Owen, and Steven Zobac), and two pitchers in the top-10 of all A pitchers in ERA (Felix Arronde and Hunter Patteson).
And while all the usual disclaimers apply (it’s still early, some of this is noise, etc.), the early performance from pitching prospects is exciting for a pitching development team into its second season of turning the Royals pitching development around.
I think it’s worth taking a deeper dive into where this success is coming from and how it can be sustained.
